Simfund Platform Launches Comprehensive Fee and Expense Intelligence for U.K. Domiciled Funds

LONDON (June 5, 2023) – ISS Market Intelligence (ISS MI), a unit of Institutional Shareholder Services and leading global provider of data, analytics, insights, media, and events solutions to the global financial services industry, today announced enhancements to its Simfund platform to deliver detailed fee and expense data for the U.K. domiciled fund universe. This new information, combined with the wider universe of data in Simfund, addresses the Financial Conduct Authority’s Assessment of Value reporting requirement, which mandates that asset managers and their boards operating in the U.K. conduct detailed reviews of fund operating costs, including benchmarking fees and expenses against peers.

The comprehensive fee and expense intelligence covers over 100 unique data attributes, is captured at the share class level, and is updated annually and refreshed monthly.  Leveraging the powerful and customizable analytics capabilities offered by the Simfund platform, users will now be able to include in their analysis detailed fee breakdowns for U.K. domiciled funds and can quickly and easily create custom peer group universes for benchmarking and comparative analysis, all in a single platform. The addition of this dataset eliminates the need to integrate data from multiple sources, in turn allowing users more time to focus on extracting actionable insights from the data. ISS MI will work closely with clients to assist them as they leverage this new intelligence, given ISS MI’s strong presence in the U.K. market and over 20 years’ experience sourcing and delivering financial services product data and analytics, including fees and expenses, globally.

“The critical addition of the U.K.-domiciled fee and expense intelligence on our Simfund platform anticipates and responds to the industry’s and regulators’ increased focus on shareholder costs, and furthers ISS MI’s mission of sourcing and delivering industry-leading data and analytics to meet our client’s evolving needs,” said Ben Doob, Head of ISS Market Intelligence. “Going forward, we will expand on this initiative with the provision of similar data for Luxembourg and Ireland domiciled funds, and through continued investments to proactively address the growing body of regulation in this area.”
