ROCKVILLE, Md. (October 28, 2024) — ISS ESG, the sustainable investment arm of ISS STOXX, today announced the release of methodology enhancements to its industry-leading Governance QualityScore (GQS) scoring solution for global institutional investors.
Today’s release is a comprehensive expansion for Governance QualityScore and includes the introduction of 12 new factors and the extension of existing factors to new markets for more comprehensive assessments of corporate governance risk.
New elements are spread across three topical areas including:
- New factors covering information security, CEO non-compete clauses and virtual only shareholders’ meetings.
- Expansion of existing factors to new markets increasing their global applicability
- Expansion of geographic coverage to include nearly 150 companies in Taiwan.

In tandem with today’s release, ISS ESG is announcing a data verification period from November 11 to 22 allowing companies to verify and submit changes to their data on all factors, including those added for this release, before scores are made available under the updated methodology. Access to the data verification portal is provided free-of-charge and year-round.
