NH-Amundi and STOXX Collaborate to Launch ETF in Korea Investing in the European Defense Sector

ZUG/SEOUL (July 29, 2025)NH-Amundi, the Korean asset manager jointly owned by NongHyup Financial Group and Amundi, the leading European asset manager[1], today announced a new collaboration with STOXX, a leading European provider of benchmark and custom index solutions, to launch the HANARO Europe Defense ETF in the Korean market.

The new NH-Amundi ETF listed on the Korea Stock Exchange today, following Amundi’s successful equivalent ETF listings on major European stock exchanges earlier this year, making it accessible to a wider audience of professional and private investors. The ETF tracks the STOXX® Europe Total Market Defense Capped index, which selects European companies[2] in ICB’s Aerospace and Defense Sector whose revenues are aligned with the military re-equipment theme of the European Union. The launch comes amid surging interest from investors in European equities[3], and as the continent undertakes a historic upgrade of its military capabilities.

“Our collaboration with Amundi, Europe’s premier ETF manager[4], has been instrumental in bringing a European defense industry ETF to the Korean market with unprecedented speed,” said Jung-Sup Gill, CEO of NH-Amundi Asset Management. “The Amundi and STOXX co-developed index is a key constituent in the European defense-related investment landscape. With Korean investor interest in European defense enhancement surging, we are proud to offer this ETF, providing crucial and timely investment access.”

“European defense is proving to be one of the standout investment themes in 2025, with demand coming not just from local investors but from those in Asia too,” said Axel Lomholt, General Manager at STOXX. “We are excited to continue building on this interesting offering with NH-Amundi.”

The offering showcases STOXX’s innovative customization capabilities in index construction, where different thematic and sector selection approaches can be utilized to meet investor demand.
