Statement in Connection with ISS ESG Being Named Best Governance Data Provider for ESG
LONDON (May 16, 2023) – ISS ESG, the sustainable investment arm of Institutional Shareholder Services, was recognized as ‘Best Governance Data Provider for ESG’ at the A-Team Group’s ESG Insight Awards 2023 ceremony on May 11.
“We are extremely pleased to be recognized for our robust governance datasets that are relied upon by a growing number of institutions to help them navigate an increasingly complex investment landscape,” said Till Jung, Global Head of ESG Products at ISS ESG. “We believe our unique and differentiated set of governance and other non-traditional datapoints enable subscribing users to build a more complete profile of portfolio companies and act on those insights.”
A sample of ISS ESG’s governance dataset includes the following:
Director Data: Allows investors to access important, non-traditional sources of information at a board-level and provide a deeper look into the boardroom, enabling clients to generate a complete picture of board-level decision-makers and inform new investment ideas.
Executive Compensation Analytics: Provides comprehensive data and tools to analyze executive compensation plan design, better understand executives’ incentives & decision-making, examine the link between pay and performance, and uncover problematic pay practices.
Governance QualityScore: Helps investors to review quality factors and assess corporate governance risk within four key pillars: Board Structure, Compensation, Shareholder Rights, and Audit & Risk Oversight. Scores provide an indication of relative quality and are supported by factor-level data that is critical to the research process, while historical scores and data provide greater context and trending analysis to understand a company’s approach to governance over time.
Voting Analytics: Allows investors to monitor and analyze institutional voting policies, shareholder meeting results, and institutional voting patterns to surface trends and actionable insights.
The A-Team Group’s ESG Insight Awards are overseen by an Advisory Board comprised of ESG practitioners representing both sell-side and buy-side organizations. The Advisory Board helps to shape award categories and determines short-listed winners in collaboration with A-Team Insight Editors. Financial institution members of the A-Team ESG Insight community then vote for winners. ISS ESG did not participate in the voting, nor did it encourage others to support its candidacy.
