NEW YORK (April 11, 2023)– ISS ESG, the sustainable investment arm of Institutional Shareholder Services Inc. (ISS), today announced it has been top ranked for ratings quality based on a survey of institutional investors as part of The SustainAbility Institute by ERM Rate the Raters 2023 Report, which was issued in March 2023. The SustainAbility Institute by ERM, a sustainability consultancy which supports companies and investors globally, started producing its ‘Rate the Raters Report’ over a decade ago. This year’s report included surveys of both corporates and institutional investors, with data collected between 21 September and 11 November 2022, with responses from 104 companies and 33 institutional investors to each survey, respectively. ISS ESG’s Corporate Rating received a high-quality rating (i.e., a score of four or five on a five point scale) for ratings quality from 65 percent of the institutional investor survey respondents. Furthermore, ISS ESG’s Corporate Rating was ranked number two for usefulness, receiving a high-quality rating from 52 percent of the institutional investor survey respondents.
